Community Action Partners
The City of Fort Worth receives Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funds to serve as the Community Action Agency for all of Tarrant County.
Assistance is provided to low-income individuals and families. Community Action Partners also receive private funding from TXU Energy, Atmos Gas and the generosity of their customers to assist others. Applicants will be required to provide identification, proof of income, address and other household information at the appointment.
Tip Top Employee Program
This program is designed to help improve employee retention and productivity by alleviating financial stressors and improving quality of life. Employees will benefit from direct services (assistance with utility bills, rent or mortgage, etc.), education (workshops on energy/water conservation and money management), job skills development and information or referrals to address other needs. The City of Fort Worth’s Tip Top ARRA (American Recovery & Reinvestment Act) Employment Program provides education and employment services to get Tarrant County residents back to work. Visit the Tip Top ARRA page for more information regarding orientations and guidelines.
Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP)
This program provides utility assistance to help residents avoid utility disruptions and achieve energy self-sufficiency. Customers are encouraged to control energy costs and identify strategies which allow them to pay their future energy bills.
The overall intent of the program is to equip families with necessary life skills to manage their resources, reduce their dependence on social service programs for financial assistance and attain energy self-sufficiency. Eligibility: Participants must have income at or below 125% of the Federal Income Guidelines. Must be a resident of Tarrant County to be eligible.
Emergency Shelters Grant (ESG) & Community Development Block Grants (CDBG)
The Housing and Urban Development Programs provide funds to intervene and prevent families from becoming homeless. Assistance is provided with rent and mortgage payments, deposits and utility payments. Eligibility: This assistance is only available in certain cities in Tarrant County. Participants must have income at or below 175% of the Federal Income Guidelines. Each applicant is required to attend a budget/money management session before a payment is submitted. Other criteria has to be met in order to qualify.
Water Assistance Program
The Water Assistance Program aids households in paying their water bill and helps with plumbing repairs related to a water leak that has led to increased usage. Eligibility: Applicants must be Fort Worth Water Department customers. Household income must be at or below 175% of the Federal Income Guidelines and meet other specific criteria.
FIT (Families In Transition)
The FIT Program assists families in attaining personal and economic independence. The program provides a variety of services on an ongoing basis. It allows individuals to access resources designed to help them overcome barriers and become financially independent. A specialist will assess the family’s needs and help them develop an action plan.
Eligibility: Participants must agree to follow a goal plan and must have income at or below 125% of the Federal Income Guidelines. Must be a resident of Tarrant County to be eligible.
Silver Stars Program
The Silver Stars Program provides homebound and isolated seniors with a holiday care basket of useful items. Eligibility: Senior citizens over the age of 65 residing in Tarrant County and who meet eligibility requirements.
Cowboy Santas Program Inc.
Cowboy Santas is a non-profit program that provides toys to children from low-income families during the holiday season.
Registration for the program starts in October with families receiving toys in December. Eligibility: Tarrant County families must have income at or below 150% of the Federal Income Guidelines. For more information, call 817-392-TOYS (8697) or visit www.cowboysantas.org.
