First Sunday Film Club

Each month, the First Sunday Film Club screens fantastic movies on the big screen of the Tandy Lecture Hall at Central Library.

Critics Corner

Everyone's a critic the moment the credits roll and the theater lights come on. But, check out the links below for some prominent critics reviewing past and current movies.

Roger Ebert

The Chicago Sun-Times columnist is best known for hosting At the Movies, a popular weekly television show that featured film reviews.

Entertainment Weekly

Owen Gleiberman and Lisa Schwarzbaum are the featured movie critics for this weekly entertainment magazine.

Leonard Maltin

This critic releases an annual paperback Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide and can be seen on the television show, Entertainment Tonight.

Awards

Golden Globes:  The Hollywood Foreign Press Association hosts these awards.  Past nominations and winners can be found here.  This year's nominees were announced on December 11, 2008.

Screen Actors Guild Awards:  The actor's union hands out these annual awards.  Nominations for the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced on December 18, 2008.

Academy Awards:  The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences gives out the Oscars each year.  Their database can help users find past winners and nominees.  January 22, 2009 is the date for the announcement of this year's nominees.

Audio Books

Audio books are now available in a variety of formats for Fort Worth Library patrons.

Compact Discs & Cassettes

The Fort Worth Library offers a large selection of audio book titles via compact disc or cassette format.  Patrons can use the Library's Online Catalog to search not just by author but also by performer (narrator) of an audio book.

Downloadable Audiobooks

Fort Worth Library patrons can now check out 4 titles at a time from our digital collection at OverDrive Media Console.  Download best selling digital audio books 24/7 to your PC, iPhone, iPod or other portable music device and enjoy your favorite books at home, in the office or wherever you are.
