Computer Classes at the Central Library

The classes are held downtown at the Central Library in the Intel Computer Lab. Seating is limited to 25 participants. Register by calling 817-871-7701 as space for classes is limited. Walk-ins are seated as class space allows.  We also offer computación en español.

Parking

Parking at the Central Library is available in the 3rd Street Parking Garage at the intersection of 3rd Street and Taylor. Bring your parking receipt to the Check Out Desk for 2-1/2 hours of free parking. Street parking is free after 6:00 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.

Class Descriptions/Prerequisites

Computer Basics - Meet the Computer
Class covers the parts of the computer, computer vocabulary, using a mouse, and information about purchasing a computer. No computer experience necessary.

Internet Basics
Hands-on class covers history, characteristics, navigation and simple searching. Must have basic computer, keyboard and mouse skills.

E-mail Basics
Hands-on class covers obtaining and using a Web e-mail account, creating and sending messages, plus e-mail do's and don'ts. Must have basic computer, mouse and Internet skills.

Microsoft Word Basics
Hands-on covers creating, editing, saving and printing documents; cutting/pasting; formatting text appearance; creating numbered and bulleted lists. Must have basic computer, keyboard and mouse skills.

Microsoft Excel Basics
Hands-on class covers Excel toolbars, rows, columns & cells; navigating Excel; creating worksheets; using formulas and functions; creating graphs. Must have skills covered in Beginning Word.
