Statement from Councilmember Kathleen Hicks regarding the Medical Examiner's ruling in the Michael Jacobs, Jr. case:

“Our community is extremely saddened by the loss of this young man’s life. We can’t begin to imagine the suffering his family has endured since the day of this terrible tragedy. I am glad the medical examiner has finally concluded his investigation, and I believe the grand jury will be able to make a final and unbiased decision on where this case goes from here. The Fort Worth Police Department has a long history of brave and professional service to people of Fort Worth. We will continue to monitor this case closely to make sure—at the conclusion of this investigation—Chief Halstead and his staff take the actions necessary to prevent this from happening again.”
