Richard Neuhaus joined the City of Fort Worth in 1985 as a management intern working in the City Managers Office. His major responsibility during that time was assisting in the implementation of the City-wide ambulance system that would be named MedStar. He joined the Fire Department in 1986 as EMS coordinator, overseeing the MedStar ambulance contract. During 1988, Richard assisted in the transition of the ambulance system to the current multi-jurisdictional Area Metropolitan Ambulance Authority (AMAA) and served as acting director of the AMAA during its initial implementation.
Richard returned to the Fire Department in 1989 as the fiscal and administrative manager. He is responsible for the Administrative Services Division, which includes all financial activities, accounts receivable and payable, purchasing, payroll, and civilian human resources. He is also a member of the departments Executive Staff.
Richard holds a Bachelor of Science - Psychology degree and a Master of Public Administration degree from Southern Illinois University. He and his wife Nancy have two children - Amy and Matthew. Richard and Nancy spend their free time gardening and tending to their log home.
