JAY D. PEACOCK

 Jay Peacock

 

The Operations Division, the largest division in the department,  is under the direction of Deputy Chief Jay Peacock. He is responsbile for the day-to-day operations of the city's 42 fire stations. Additonally, he supervises the departments Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) unit.

Peacock joined the Fort Worth Fire Department 1976. He has promoted through the ranks of firefighter, engineer, lieutenant, captain and battalion chief. Before his promotion to Deputy Chief in 2003, he had served the previous 8 years as the departments Technical Operations Chief. As the Technical Operations Chief, he was responsible for the management of the departments Hazardous Material Program, Technical Rescue Program, Swift Water and Dive-rescue Program, High-rise Program, Wildland Program, and the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Program.

Outside of his duties with the Fort Worth Fire Department, Chief Peacock currently holds the position of Task Force Leader with Texas Task Force One, one of the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue teams in the federal system.

Chief Peacock holds a Bachelor of Applied Business Administration degree in Fire Management from Dallas Baptist University, has completed the School of Public Affairs - Advanced Public Executive Program at Arizona State University. He is also a graduate from the National Fire Academy’s - Executive Fire Officer Program.

Being in a member of the Fort Worth Fire Department is a family affair for Peacock. His father retired as a Battalion Chief in 1989 after serving 36 years, an uncle retired as a Deputy Chief after 38 years, and his wife has been a member since 1982 and holds the rank of Lieutenant.
